Eng. Jude Kurera obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Peradeniya in 2004. He later obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wayamba in 2017, as well as a Master of Sustainability in Environmental Policy from the University of Seoul in South Korea.

Jude became a member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) in 2002 as a student member. He advanced to Associate Member status in 2006 and was elected to the Corporate Member class in 2017. He represented the “Above 40” category on the IES Council during the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 sessions. Additionally, he held the position of Chairman for the IESL Puttalam District Center during the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 sessions while also serving as Joint Secretary for the IESL Wayamba Chapter in the 2019/2020 session. Since 2012, he has been an active member of the executive committee of the IES Wayamba Chapter, participating for nine consecutive sessions until 2022/2023. Furthermore, he has been involved with the IESL Puttalam District Center since 2014, serving as Treasurer for three consecutive sessions from 2014/2015 to 2017/2018.

Eng. Jude began his professional career as a Site Engineer at Arangalla Construction (Pvt) Ltd. In 2004. Later that year, he joined the Katunayaka Airport project as a Project Engineer. From April 2006 to January 2010, he worked as a Project Manager at Elemech Engineers (Pvt) Ltd. Following that, he served as a Senior Engineer at the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (ADB 5th) from 2010 to 2020. He is currently a Senior Engineer on the Ratmalana-Moratuwa Wastewater Disposal Project at the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.

Moreover, Jude has been a member of Toastmasters International since 2018. He served as President of the Lunuwila Toastmasters Club during the 2020/2021 session and was recognized as a President Distinguished Club Vice President for the 2019/2020 session

I would like to continue contributing to the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) by leveraging the experience have gained from my participation in two consecutive IESL Council sessions 2020/2021 and 2021/2022), as well as my involvement with the IESL Wayamba Chapter and Puttalam District Center since 2012. My active role in the Puttalam Toastmasters Club-established by the IESL Puttalam District Center has allowed to promote communication and leadership skills among IESL members. Furthermore, I have been dedicated to enhancing the service of engineers to the public through various CSR initiatives.

If elected, I will approach the role with enthusiasm and a strong commitment to representing the perspectives of engineers in the council, ensuring that we uphold the professional standards and code of ethics that define Sri Lankan engineers. Throughout my tenure as an elected member, have consistently advocated for maintaining the highest professional standards within the IESL, striving to reach out to provincial chapter members and empower them to engage actively in IESL activities.

My focus will also be on fostering professional development for all members, safeguarding their rights and privileges, and inspiring young engineers to become corporate members of the IESL. I am committed to making a positive impact and helping our engineering community thrive.
