Eng. Navodana Kankanamge obtained his BSc (Honors) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa in 2009, and later completed his MSc in Electrical Engineering from the same university in 2015. He became a Corporate Member of IESL in 2015 and was recognized as an International Professional Engineer in 2022. Since February 2010, he has been serving at the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), where he currently holds the position of Project Manager in the Project Division of CEB.

Over the years, Eng. Kankanamge has actively contributed to national-level initiatives, representing IESL on committees and regulatory bodies including SLSI, ECSL, OPA, PUCSL and UoR. From 2019 to 2021, he served on the IESL Council, participating in standing committees such as F&P, FA, PSMC, and CPD.

As the Chairman of the IESL Young Members’ Section (YMS) in 2019–2020, he revitalized the YMS Technical Conference by forming the first-ever dedicated conference team, overseeing the presentation of over 100 papers, and enhancing the overall structure and participant engagement of the event. Subsequently, as Chairman of the Junior Inventor of the Year (JIY) program, he navigated the challenges of the pandemic by transitioning to online platforms and virtual formats, ensuring the uninterrupted continuation of the program. Under his leadership, innovative initiatives such as ENCORE and PATHFINDERS were launched for the first time, attracting over 3,000 participants and significantly strengthening IESL’s presence among student communities across Sri Lanka. He also played a key role in standardizing the Undergraduate Inventor of the Year (UIY) program by establishing new undergraduate committees and integrating dedicated webpages for both JIY and UIY into the IESL website.

In his professional capacity, Eng. Kankanamge has led multidisciplinary teams on major transmission projects. Apeksha Hospital condition audit initiative, Electricians’ Guide Book preparation, Sri Pada LPS/lighting modification project were milestone voluntary projects he led. He contributes to both capacity-building and technical excellence and serves.

He has authored and co-authored technical papers and presented at numerous professional forums. He is also a regular facilitator at workshops and training sessions aimed at mentoring and upgrading the skills of aspiring young engineers and technicians.

With a balanced blend of theoretical knowledge and practical project leadership, Eng. Kankanamge continues to advance the engineering profession in Sri Lanka through dynamic leadership, mentorship, and public service.

I am a Chartered Electrical Engineer with over a decade of experience in engineering design and project implementation, currently serving as a Project Manager at Project Division of the Ceylon Electricity Board. I hold BSc and MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa. I have actively contributed to the profession through my service on national committees including SLSI, PUCSL, OPA, and UoR, representing the IESL.

As a former Council Member (2019–2021), I served on several standing committees including F&P, FA, PSMC, and CPD. During my tenure as Chairman of the Young Members’ Section (YMS), I revitalized its activities with innovative programs and expanded its reach, introducing flagship events. As Chairman of JIY, I led the successful digital transformation of youth platforms, even during the pandemic. I have served the Southern and Sabaragamuwa Chapters of IESL in various capacities. Additionally, I have held the position of Secretary for the IESL Energy Sector Policy Forum and currently serving to the IESL Entrepreneur Forum.

If elected, I will bring renewed leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurial insight to the IESL. I will actively advocate for standardized registration and licensing practices in alignment with the ECSL Act, ensuring legal and regulatory integrity across the engineering profession.
